View all on Google →Frequent here and always a good vibe. Feels like old DC where my family brought me to skate, play, and experience culture. My daughter loves it and always leaves with a new friend. It’s a safe escape in the city where everyone just wants to have a good time.
Anacostia Recreation Center is one of the best places to relax and enjoy the summer in DC. The pool area is clean, spacious, and very well maintained, and the staff has always been friendly and professional. It’s a great spot for families, exercise, or simply cooling off on a hot day. I really appreciate having such a nice community facility in Anacostia. Highly recommended!
I love these courts—they have so much potential, but they’re currently underutilized and in need of some care. This morning, my boyfriend and I went out to clean up around the sides of the courts. We picked up trash, cleared debris, and did what we could to make the space more inviting. I run a women-led tennis community here in DC called City Girls Serve, and we’re passionate about creating safe, fun, and accessible tennis experiences in underused public spaces like this one. We’re actively looking to use and care for these courts regularly. We truly believe in giving back and building community through sport. I’m sharing before and after photos to show the difference a little effort can make.
Nice pool. Very friendly staff. Clean recreation center. No fitness area
Disappointed. Online hours aren’t accurate. No one answers the phones. Upon arrival I was greeted by a gentleman that asked “what I needed.” Staff were very rude and unhelpful. They indicated that they worked for Mobile parks and recreation and that the bathrooms and pool were closed to the public. I live in the community and have been living in this community for over 10 years. It’s unfortunate that you can’t receive respect in your own community. An update on closures or events inside the recreation would be helpful for those who would like to use community areas.
