View all on Google →This place is acting a little funny with how their facility is run, or should I say, led into a state of neglect and disarray intentionally. Yeah, so most of the machines are broken, can’t use this treadmill or that one. They have around 20 or so very nice donated bikes, but those have slowly disappeared, and we are not allowed to use them. I wonder where they went to.. You used to be able to go upstairs as an adult, and use the kitchen, you know, this is a rec center for the dc residents, but now, you can’t do anything. The bathroom stalls have been intentionally disrupted in order to prevent anyone from using them, so that the staff don’t ever have to clean them. That’s ridiculous, that’s like 6 stalls between 2 floors. Sure, they do all the kid stuff, it is next to an elementary school, but this is not an elementary school, this is a rec center like all the others in dc, that may or may not be next to an elementary school. This place, however, has tried to turn it all into a “kids only” so that for the adults, they don’t want them here, it’s almost like they don’t want anyone here actually, yet they are very over staffed to the max. This place used to be great for the community, now it’s like a racket or something, very sketchy. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years, this place has been run into the ground based on some political agenda. It is not cool.
Near the Metro and many restaurants, bars, and shops along Georgia Avenue NW is a recreation center run by the city. Park for free along the street and walk into a large outdoor space with a field surrounded by rowhouses and a playground with two areas with equipment. My five-year-old daughter loved the playground, especially the climbing ropes. If you go, note that there's barely any shade so plan accordingly. We got so hot visiting in August that we left after 30 minutes.
Great rec center in Petworth. The fitness center is pretty good, though missing a handful of weights. Good enough for a quick strength workout or elliptical (particularly if it’s too hot outside in the DC summer). The staff and front desk folks are fantastic. Highly recommend the very affordable DC parks and rec fitness programs, several of which meet at Raymond (spin, body flex, etc.)
During the week is the best time to use the track. If you are lucky, you get to have the field to yourself except for a couple of runners popping in. During the weekends the centre is a little Crowded with everything from tennis players, runners, soccer and football players. This place also has a kids play area.
Beautiful turf soccer field. Very nice and pretty sizable playground (suitable for ages 4-10). Parking in the neighborhood is pretty easy, especially on the weekends. Short jogging track around the perimeter of the turf field.
