About

Daniel Webster (1782-1852) was a lawyer and Whig party statesman who served as secretary of state for presidents John Tyler, William Henry Harrison, and Millard Fillmore. Previously he served as congressman first for New Hampshire, then congressman and senator for Massachusetts (1845-50). Webster's fame as an orator is captured in a stirring bas relief on the memorial's plinth.

I know his history but I doubt many do. Could use context or a QR code. Otherwise very nice near a busy area.

Impressive statue for a legendary figure. I like the bronze relief cut into the stone itself, very interesting

Small, but great monument dedicated to the greatest American orator.

The Daniel Webster Memorial is located near Webster's former home at 1603 Massachusetts Avenue Northwest, beside Scott Circle at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue. Classical Revival architectural style is gorgeous.

There are scenes at the base of the statue that you can walk up and see. The lawn is soft and the area is fairly peaceful.
